Biography: John Wells focuses his practice on securities litigation and complex civil litigation matters in state and federal courts and in arbitration forums nationwide. John also assists clients in defense of regulatory investigations and proceedings initiated by law enforcement officials and regulators, including the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and state securities regulators. He also manages internal investigations concerning potential violations of law and company policy. John represents clients in all areas of commercial law, including contract disputes, business torts, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, fraud and unfair competition and employment matters.In addition to financial services firms, John's clients have included insurance companies, municipalities, public school districts, public utilities, hospital systems and small businesses. He has litigated a wide variety of civil matters, including construction disputes, real estate transactions and cases involving premises liability, personal injury, wrongful death, eminent domain and inverse condemnation. John has also litigated issues of Constitutional law, including sovereign and official immunity, Section 1983, due process and equal protection claims, and a variety of matters pertaining to education law. He has led presentations to corporate managers on litigation avoidance and to employees on the ins and outs of providing effective deposition and trial testimony. John has also counseled dozens of business owners on cost-effective litigation management and on avoiding potential business and contract disputes.
