Biography: Ms. Russell was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Clackamas High School with Valedictorian honors, she attended Pomona College in Claremont, California. During college, Ms. Russell participated in a study abroad program in Geneva, Switzerland where she was able to utilize United Nations facilities for research, and to immerse herself in the French language. In 1989, she received a degree in International Relations from Pomona College.Following graduation, Ms. Russell returned to Oregon to attend the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College. During law school, Ms. Russell worked with the Portland firm Hoevet, Snyder, & Boise, clerking for managing partner Judy Snyder in litigation of personal injury and employment law matters. Ms. Russell graduated from law school in December 1993 and was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in April 1994. Ms. Russell worked as an associate for Hoevet, Snyder & Boise for four years, until she joined Crispin Employment Lawyers in 1998. Since that time she has focused her practice primarily on representing individuals in employment and civil rights litigation before state and federal agencies and courts in Oregon, although she maintains an interest in representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters as well. In 2000, Ms. Russell became a shareholder in the firm.Ms. Russell is an active member of the Oregon State Bar and has served on the OSB Continuing Legal Education Committee, the Council on Court Procedures, and is a past member of the Washington County Legal Professional Responsibility Committee. Ms. Russell is proud to serve on the Board of Governors of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. She is also a past Co-Chair of OTLA's Continuing Legal Education Committee, and is a past Co-Chair of OTLA's Women's Caucus. She is currently a Co-Chair of the OTLA Development Committee.Ms. Russell is a past member of the Board of the Oregon Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and past Chair of the FBA's Young Lawyers Committee, which is responsible for planning the annual Professionalism Education Program in the Federal Court. Ms. Russell is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association. In addition to her committee work, Ms. Russell has given presentations on Discovery in Employment Cases for the Oregon Law Institute and the Multnomah Bar Association, Ethical Considerations in Litigation Practices, Employment Retaliation, and has participated in a trial practice presentation to the Young Lawyers' Section of the Multnomah Bar Association. Ms. Russell has co-authored publications for the Oregon State Bar, and authored articles for the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association.Ms. Russell has tried and arbitrated cases representing plaintiffs in state and federal courts in Oregon. She is admitted to both the Oregon and Washington State Bars, the U.S. District Court for Oregon, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Russell has represented clients with employment claims against Legacy Health Systems, Fred Meyer, Nike, Intel, Costco, Safeway, CH2M Hill, Teledyne Wah Chang, Tektronix, and county and state government entities. When she is not in the office, Ms. Russell is a member of the liturgical dance company, Power & Praise, and is raising two beautiful children.
