Biography: J.C. Roper is a partner in the Atlanta office of Drew, Eckl & Farnham, LLP. He is a graduate of Samford University. While at Samford, Mr. Roper was a three year starter and four year letterman, culminating his career as a member of the NCAA, national semi-finalist football team under Head Coach Terry Bowden. He then attended Cumberland School of Law where he received a J.D., participating in Moot Court and Parham Williams Trial Competitions. Mr. Roper focuses his practice in workers' compensation defense litigation representing Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations, employers, insurers, self-insured corporations from retail, manufacturing, restaurant and other industries. He has tried numerous cases before the State Board of Workers' Compensation, argued appeals in Superior Courts, and defended claims through the state Supreme Court level. Mr. Roper is a 2008 Nominee of the FCDR On The Rise Award and 2007 Nominee for the Top 40 Attorneys Under 40 Atlanta Business Chronicle. Mr. Roper is a frequent speaker and author on workers' compensation topics. He is a member of the Georgia State Bar Association, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, Atlanta Bar Association and Gate City Bar Association. On the national level, he serves as an editorial board member of the National Bar Association's Healthcare Law Committee. Mr. Roper served as Publications Vice-Chair of Defense Research Institute's Workers' Compensation Committee and currently serves as a Workers' Compensation Steering Committee member for DRI. He has served as past Vice-Chair and Chair of Defense Research Institute's Diversity for Success Seminar and Corporate Expo Planning Committee in Chicago, IL. Mr. Roper is a member of the America Bar Association's Workers' Compensation and Tort Trial Insurance Practice Committees. Mr. Roper currently serves as a founding Board Member and Vice-President of the National Workers' Compensation Coalition. He is a Council on Litigation Management member (CLM) where he currently serves on the Education and Training and the Medical Issues in Workers' Compensation subcommittees for CLM. Mr Roper is a past speaker for the Fulton County Daily Report/ALM In-House Counsel CLE series on workers' compensation issues for the in-house corporate counsel and risk manager.
