Biography: Thomas E. Fraysse has a trial practice emphasizing the prosecution and defense of high exposure and complex cases primarily in the areas of fraud, unfair business practices, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, and insurance bad faith. He brings considerable trial experience to his practice including handling more than two thousand litigation matters over the past twenty-seven years, participating in more than one hundred trials, representing parties in numerous arbitrations and mediations, and successfully trying in excess of thirty jury trials to verdict. Mr. Fraysse represents clients in fraud, unfair business practices and qui tam actions against doctors, chiropractors, attorneys, corporate officers and directors, automotive repair operators and other individuals and entities engaging in unfair or fraudulent practices. He assists in the training of insurance company personnel on fraud-related issues and has lectured on fraud litigation at various industry meetings and seminars. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Fraysse has handled countless personal injury and wrongful death claims and actions, including matters involving exposure to asbestos or silica products, product liability, automobile negligence, and premises liability. His work includes representing a number of self-insured entities, including Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Fraysse also prosecutes claims on behalf of disabled individuals against disability insurance carriers for breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, fraud and punitive damages. In 1993, he and another Knox Ricksen LLP partner obtained a $9 million punitive damage verdict against a major disability carrier in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of a totally disabled letter carrier and subsequently handled numerous claims and actions on behalf of disabled persons, securing multiple million dollar-plus settlements. Mr. Fraysse works out of both the Oakland and Los Angeles offices of Knox Ricksen LLP.
