Texas SR-22 Guidelines

An Occupational Drivers License in the state of Texas and the other forms of a hardship driver’s license will need to be started through the courts system, in the county you or your client resides.

The Texas court system will determine whether or not you need a certificate of insurance. We recommend speaking with an attorney about the length of time you will need to carry an SR-22 insurance policy. The typical term is maintaining a policy for 2-3 years and possibly 5 years. It is mandatory to maintain the SR-22 coverage during the time frame that the court mandates. If the policy lapses or cancels for any reason your license will be suspended again, and typically will have to start the process all over again.

We do not have forms on the website for those because those come from the courts, and each court has its own format. Your client will need to contact the court they reside in and inquire about the hardship driver’s license and the occupational license. There is not a suspended driver’s license form currently listed on the Texas DMV.

Texas Legal Liability Car Insurance and SR-22 Limits
